“It has your fingerprints on it, remember?”

No one, and I mean no one, was ready to write his name over that rule that will grant to the “new” Senators (those that we won’t be allowed to choose directly) the parliamentary privilege… remember?

Well, after incessantly repeating that no one wanted to approve it, the government (that apparently knew nothing about it…) expressed its favourable opinion and therefore the (almost)orphan amendment that will grant an equal parliamentary privilege to MPs and new Senators has been approved by a large majority: Democratic Party (Mr Renzi’s party), Forza Italia (MrB’s Party, with the exception of Senator Minzolini, absteined), New Centre-Right (Mr Alfano, minister of the interior, party), Scelta Civica (Civic Choice,Mr Monti’s party), Union of Christian and Centre Democrats and Northern League. Against the amendment: 5Stars Movement and SEL (Left Ecology and Freedom …or at least what remains of that left party after many of its members chose to join the winning Democratic Party, when one is commited to an ideal…).

In the end, at least we can say that this was not a case of authomatic writing. Now there are fingerprints to prove it.
