We celebrate today something that is in danger of disappearing: work. These days we have learnt that in Italy: unemployment is raising; salaries are losing purchasing power (because of raising taxes and goods prices) and are among the lowest in Europe (OECD data – Italian salaries are ranked 23 on 34 OECD members, after Spain and Ireland); half of pensioner have an income of less than 1000 Euros (14% less than 500 Euros).  To make things better yesterday the Monti’s Government discussed the spending review. Although no decisions has been taken it is clear that there will be cuts in public expenses (we fear for school and health care system). Defending his governmental action SuperMario said that cuts are necessary to avoid a further increase of taxes and pointed out that if the Italian economy is making so bad it is also his predecessor’s fault because the crisis had been managed without the due attention and denying its existence (bewilderment shook Mr B party – PDL – Everybody knows that Mr B has been the greatest Prime Minister in the Italian history!!). Then Mr Monti went so far to say that if someone thinks it will be better to repeal IMU (tax on real estate) well, maybe it will be even better to introduce a  tax on large properties… Ehi! Maybe you’re right pal! Great idea!

Ehi! Forse hai ragione amico. Grande idea!!
