Am I a bad person? I’ve seriously considered this point after a quick look to other blogs about knitting (this blog is about knitting, after all). It seems that each and every one is frantically knitting for Christmas. Everyone except me! Maybe I’m some sort of Scrooge: too selfish to be true! But I don’t knit for Christmas: I think it could be too distressing and embarrassing and expensive too (ok, there’s a little bit of Scrooge in me but there’s also a crisis here!). Think about that, for instance: you devote all of your free time to knitting, trying to finish in time all the knitted gifts you’ve programmed (so that an activity that is usually relaxing becomes a real nightmare) and the X Day the person you’ve knitted for (with much love, maybe) looks at your work raising an eyebrow and showing artificial enthusiasm… And what about people you didn’t knit for, what should they think about it? No, I don’t knit for Christmas.
Sono una persona cattiva? Ho preso in seria considerazione questo punto dopo aver dato uno sguardo veloce agli altri blog sulla maglia (questo blog, in fondo, parla di maglia). Sembra che tutti, ma proprio tutti, stiano freneticamente lavorando a maglia per il Natale. Tutti tranne me! Forse sono una specie di Scrooge: troppo egoista per essere vera! Ma io non lavoro a maglia per Natale: credo che possa essere troppo stressante e imbarazzante e anche costoso (ok, c’è un po’ di Scrooge in me, ma c’è anche la crisi qui!). Pensa un po’ a questo, per esempio: spendi tutto il tuo tempo libero lavorando a maglia, cercando di finire in tempo tutto quello che hai programmato (e così un’attività rilassante si trasforma in un autentico incubo) e il Giorno X la persona per cui hai tanto lavorato (con tanto amore probabilmente) guarda il tuo lavoro con un’alzata di sopracciglio mostrando un entusiasmo artificiale…E cosa dire poi delle persone per cui non hai lavorato a maglia: cosa ne dovrebbero pensare? No, io non lavoro a maglia per Natale.
